[Seminar] Offshore Wind Power Generation in Ishikari City, Hokkaido, Aiming to Become a "Profitable Municipality"
<Tokyo Event> Mayor Ryuki Kato Special Invitation "Efforts for Decarbonized Urban Development in Local Production for Local Consumption"
We will hold a seminar on "Offshore Wind Power Generation in Ishikari City, Hokkaido, Aiming to Become a 'Profitable Municipality.'" Ishikari City is aiming to become a "profitable municipality." For local governments facing population decline, securing independent income is essential for protecting citizens' lives, including social infrastructure, education, healthcare, and welfare. Ishikari City has garnered national attention in the context of decarbonization, but it views decarbonization not as a goal, but as a means to achieve its objectives. The central policy in this effort is the "RE Zone" concept, which aims to supply 100% local renewable energy to the 100 hectares of the industrial park "Ishikari Bay New Port Area." This initiative seeks to create an industrial space that provides global added value through decarbonization and encourages the concentration of businesses. By utilizing local renewable energy, such as offshore wind power, Ishikari City aims to promote industrial development and bring vitality and capital to the community. This is Ishikari City's approach to decarbonization.
